What if the public sector worked like Biontech

It took Biontech and other pharmaceutical companies less than a year to develop a successful vaccine against Covid_19. Imagine health authorities had adapted that fast; digital equipment was acquired, software improved, and new jobs built up. That would mean the trinity of testing, tracking, and quarantining would work as it does in countries with low incidence. Or think of our schools. How would remote learning have changed within months if incentives had been the same as in the private sector, where the unspoken rule is that you will be gone if you don’t adapt to new situations? If public schools fail with digital education, they just fail, and they are still there. The mechanism is missing to force them to change fast. – Imagine how our children could be taught, and the pandemic could be under control if the public sector worked as Biontech.
