Das Wesentliche des Liberalismus’ habe ich in der Ökonomie gelernt. Dass nämlich, weil jeder selbst am ehesten weiß, was gut für ihn ist, dass deshalb jeder die Freiheit haben sollte, sein Leben nach den eigenen Vorstellungen leben zu können. Oder wie es der wunderbare Steven E. Landsburg in “Fair Play” schreibt: “One of the great lessons of economics is that there is no single best way to resolve choices; everything depends on circumstances; what’s right for you can be wrong for your neighbor. Good economics professors teach their students that people can live very differently than you do without being either foolish or evil. Good parents teach their children the same thing.”
